REEBERG, WANICA, August 24, 2024 – The students of OS Reeberg start the new school year in a sustainably renovated learning environment, painted in colors that stimulate development and learning performance. This project is part of PPG’s global New Paint for a New Start initiative.
With the Colorful Communities program, PPG renovates schools and other community facilities. In 2022, the Prakiki School in Paramaribo received a metamorphosis, followed by OS Skroetjie in Nickerie in 2023. This year it is OS Reeberg’s turn, where teachers, parents and volunteers are renovating the school together.
Close-knit neighborhood and social project
Ramona Grote-Bisschop of the parent committee approached PPG Varossieau in 2023. This year OS Reeberg was selected. The neighborhood is close-knit and dozens of volunteers help enthusiastically. Contracting company Lyroc NV is carrying out the renovation as a social project, with a minimal profit margin.
Stimulating colors
Work started on July 24 and will be completed in September. Volunteers used 600 liters of environmentally friendly HISTOREX™ Aqua-lacquer paint in stimulating colors such as Sol de Yucatan (sunny yellow) and Cenote (deep blue).
PPG worldwide
In 2023, PPG invested more than $17.5 million in community engagement, supporting hundreds of organizations in nearly 40 countries and amplifying the impact of PPG employees through volunteerism and philanthropy.
